Untitled

She met him one day while she was heartbroken and hopeless. He came in and swept her off her feet. He was every girls' fairytale "Knight in Shining Armor". They spent long summer nights sitting on her porch gazing at the stars and talking for hours on end. It just felt right. There was an instantaneous spark that ignited when he first took her by the hand. He took every piece of her heart and promised that one day he'd be able to put it back together. Could he be the one she had long awaited?

As time went on, they grew stronger. Her heart felt whole again. They would lay snuggled under the blankets all night; Her body fit into his like a puzzle piece. He would wrap his arms around her and hold her until the sun came up. She pretended to be asleep as he softly kissed her on the forehead. He made her feel wanted. He was a loving, affectionate and passionate man. He was everything she ever hoped for.

Nothing could stop them. They were young and in love. He'd glare at her from across the room with deep admiration in his eyes. She could see that he would give her the world if she asked for it. But then one day, she gave it all up. She decided to give someone else a second chance. So she left her Knight standing alone with his heart in his hand. He stood there for years just waiting for her to return. He knew she was the one, but she was still so unsure. She had to see if she could fix what she had broken in the past. He vowed that he'd wait for her and they'd live happily ever after. But it never happened.

One brisk fall day her phone rang, the voice on the other end gave her the horrible news. Her heart sank into the bottom of her chest. She stood there frozen, unable to process the words just spoken. It was in that instant that she knew it was too late. She'd never get the chance to tell him how sorry she was for hurting him. She knew that her life would never be the same. She took for granted that he would always be there waiting for her to fall so he could pick her up and mend the pieces of her broken heart. She will never forgive herself for that. Her heart will forever ache knowing that the man, who held her up so high, will never know how much she was really in love with him.
